The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose on Monday declared that the outcome of the presidential and National Assembly elections in the State had vindicated his stand that the June 21, 2014 governorship election was not rigged as being touted by the All Progressives Congress.
The Special Assistant to the governor on Information, Mr. Lanre Ogunsuyi, who spoke at a press conference in Ado-Ekiti on behalf of the government, said the latest election results proved the skeptics wrong that it was rigged in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Fayose won the three senatorial and six House of representatives seats in Saturday’s elections, just as he won the presidential election with a total of 176,466 votes, winning in all the 16 local government areas.
It would be recalled that Fayose trounced the then incumbent governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi and the candidate of the APC to emerge victorious in the election.
The Governor said he was delighted that the electorate made him to deliver the state to PDP last year when there was no Card Reader, and repeated the feat when Card Reader, which was introduced to prevent rigging, was put to test in the last elections
