Barrister Nyesom Wike, yesterday, received his certificate of return as the elected Governor of Rivers state from the INEC National Commissioner in charge of Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Rivers State, Mrs Thelma Iremiren at the INEC headquarters in Port Harcourt.
Wike’s Deputy Governor-elect, Dr Mrs. Ipalibo Harry-Banigo, also received her certificate of return alongside elected National Assembly members in the state .
Speaking after collecting the certificate, Rivers State Governor-elect, Wike assured Rivers State that he will promote development in the state. He said that despite the plot of the APC to manipulate the mandate of the people through the judiciary, the PDP will never be intimidated.
Wike said that the survival of PDP in Rivers State is because God has destined the party to liberate the state. “The people of Rivers State will never regret their support for the PDP during the elections. We assure PDP members in Rivers State that the intimidation tactics introduced by the outgoing administration through a phantom judicial commission of inquiry will fail. We shall continue to stand by our members”.
The governor-elect said that after May 29 the administration will commence development in full swing. He called on Dakuku Peterside, the governorship candidate of the APC and other governorship candidates to join hands with him to develop Rivers State. He said the state’s resources will never be used to instigate conflict amongst the people.
