Buhari needs time to deliver election promises– Onu

Former governor of old Abia State, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu, has appealed to Nigerians to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari because he needs time to deliver on his promises.

Onu, who is a national leader of the All Progressives Congress, said this while receiving APC leaders of Igbo extraction in the Federal Capital Territory, who paid him a courtesy call in his Abuja residence on Saturday.

He told his guests that apart from prayers, the Buhari administration requires a lot of patience and support in order to succeed.

According to him, unknown to Nigerians, Buhari made startling discoveries about the magnitude of the nation’s problems barely one week after assuming office.

He explained that the problems the President discovered were much more than what the party campaigned with a promise to solve.

Onu further explained that with the enormous problems at hand, the President requires the understanding of all Nigerians to give the nation a new sense of direction.

He said, “We all know that when you want to build a house, you have to build a house that can withstand all seasons, such building must have a strong foundation so that it can withstand a strong wind from blowing it off.

“What the President is doing is to make sure that he takes off on a smooth note. We want to avoid mistakes so in doing that, there would be room for effective planning for the country. The idea is that once we take off, President Buhari would move in the right direction that would usher in prosperity in the country.”

He expressed confidence that Buhari has what it takes to deliver on his promise and that he would not leave any stone unturned to redress the myriad of problems facing the nation.

The APC leader said every facet of our national life was adversely affected within the last sixteen years and it would require a man of Buhari’s statue to deal with the challenges.
