In continuation of its investigation, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday grilled a former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff, for seven hours over alleged mismanagement of N300bn during his tenure.
Sheriff, who arrived the Abuja headquarters of the commission around 10am on Thursday, was said to have been interrogated until he was released at about 5pm.
Sources said the former governor, who is on administrative bail, might be invited again to clarify some of his statements .
Sheriff is the second ex-governor to have voluntarily turned himself in at the anti-graft agency in less than a week.
Ex-governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, who recently returned to the country almost a year after he fled to an unknown destination abroad, also turned himself in to the EFCC office in Abuja, where he was quizzed on how he managed the finances of his state before he was impeached by the state House of Assembly.
It was learnt that Sheriff was interrogated over his roles in alleged cases of misappropriation, embezzlement of funds and abuse of office while he was governor.
The agency had also interrogated the former governor on Wednesday from early morning till late in the evening when he was allowed to go home.
The Head, Media and Publicity of EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, could not be reached for comment as calls made to his mobile phone indicated that it was not available.
