Army arrests Boko Haram members in Lagos


The Nigerian Army said yesterday that several members of the Boko Haram insurgents fleeing the battlefield in Bornu State have been arrested in Lagos.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Major General Isidore Edet also revealed that over 15 pipeline vandals have been arrested in the Ikorodu and Arepo areas of Lagos.

The GOC spoke to journalists shortly after decorating 12 newly promoted officers attached to the division with their new ranks.

General Edet said that the arrested Boko Haram members were among those fleeing the battle field in Bornu, Adamawa and Yobe States and were fleeing to the south to continue their nefarious activities.

He said that the Nigerian Army would not relent in ensuring the safety of lives and property within the Lagos and Ogun State areas, adding that the arrested pipeline vandals included young ladies.

He said that presently the force has begun investigations into the activities of members of the Boko Haram and that they are conducting interrogations to enable the force uncover other members of the Jihadi group.
