A controversial child model dubbed ‘the most beautiful girl in the world’ has landed a lucrative modelling contract in the US.
Russian-born Kristina Pimenova, 10, has moved from Moscow to Los Angeles to sign with prestigious agency LA Models.
But photos the ‘little supermodel’ often provoke disturbing comments and her mother was last year criticised for publishing ‘provocative’ photos of her daughter on social media.
Kristina, who has been modelling since the age of three and doing catwalk shows since she was four, has more than two million followers on Facebook and over a million on her Instagram.
Both accounts, which are managed by her mother, Glikeriya Pimenova, have drawn sexualised remarks from followers who sometimes comment on Kristina’s legs or refer to the child as ‘a babe’.
Last year her mother hit out at accusations that her child had been ‘sexualised’. She said people were ‘paedophiles’ if they thought photos of her then nine-year-old daughter modelling children’s clothes were provocative.
‘I am certain in my mind all her photographs are absolutely innocent,’ Glikeriya, 40, told MailOnline last year.
‘You must think like a paedophile in order to see something sexual in these pictures, so it is time for you to see a doctor.’
LA Models has signed Kristina for its ‘Youths’ section. Agency owner Heinz Holba said in a press release: ‘To have notoriety in the modelling world at the young age of 10 is not a small feat.’
