CAF Champions League: Manu Tips Enyimba, Pillars To Excel
Flying Eagles chief coach, Manu Garba has tipped two time African champions, Enyimba International of Aba and league champions, Kano Pillars to excel in the 2015 CAF Champions League campaign which kicks off next month.
Speaking against the background of the not too impressive performance of the two teams in this year’s Super 4 Invitational tournament which will come to a climax tomorrow yesterday in Abuja, Manu insisted that the Aba People Elephants and Kano Pillars have all it takes and the pedigree to do well in the continental campaign.
He said the experiences of their handlers, Kadiri Ikhana and Okey Emordi, who guided Enyimba to continental titles in 2003 and 2004 respectively, will be of great advantage to the clubs.
“I think Kano Pillars and Enyimba will do well in the CAF Champions League and make Nigeria proud.
“They have the pedigree and all it takes to excel. The two teams are in the best hands of Coach Kadiri Ikhana and Okey Emordi. Don’t forget that the two of them have won the cup before which means they are very experienced in this competition,” he said.
Enyimba have won the competition twice – in 2003 and 2004 – and remain the only Nigerian club to have won the Champions League. While the far Kano Pillars have gone in the competition was the semi-final feat achieved in 2010.
