The CEO of the Most Beautiful Girl in Abuja Beauty Pageant, Ejiro Okpiwho, has been elected the national president of the Association of Beauty Pageant /Fashion Exhibition Organisers of Nigeria (ABPFEON).
Okpiwho, who bagged 60 votes to beat his opponent in the keenly contested election, Barry J, thanked the members for electing him and promised to carry the association to heights it has never attained and called on the body’s members to support him, as his tenure will not be marked by backwardness.
“Over the years I have been able to build a name for a lot of people. I know that God has given me this post and, by the grace of God, I will take this association to the next level. As someone who has paid his dues in the industry and elected as the national president, I thank God.”
Responding, Barry J, who lost gallantly, promised to support Okpiwho for the good of the association.
“I accept the defeat in the spirit of sportsmanship. One of the reasons I came out is to move for the development of the industry, to make it a drama and tonight, with me as a contestant it is already a drama. We give God the glory. I will do everything possible to support the winner so that the body will get to the next level,” he said.
The organiser of the Miss NGO Nigeria, Oluwatosin, who was also the electoral chairman, urged the newly elected officials to strive to take the association forward.
“It was well attended, because people came in from Benue, Delta, Lagos, Kaduna, Jos…all over the country. We believe we did justice and everyone is happy,” he said.
Other elected officials include; Benita U Okata (vice-president), Amb. Roland Owualah (welfare), Yakubu Hamed (treasurer), Stephen Forgood (public relations officer), Alex Nwankwo (secretary general), Raymond Jefferson (organising secretary), Nick B (financial secretary) and Hilda Yanga Pam (assistant secretary).
