The National Peace Committee, on Monday, raised the alarm over the continued used of hate languages by political parties in their campaigns ahead of the presidential election and other elections.
The committee, led by former head of state, Abdulsalami Abubakar, on Monday, appealed to political parties and their candidates to desist from engaging in hate campaigns, saying the current trend might cause a big crisis.
The committee made the observation when it paid a courtesy call on the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.
However, the National Chairman of the PDP, Adamu Mu’azu, said the main opposition party should be held accountable for the continued use of hate languages despite the peace accord signed by all political parties fielding candidates in the presidential election.
