Police, army tighten security for polls in FCT

A joint team of policemen and soldiers were observed in various parts of the Federal Capital Territory on Monday as part of the security for the elections.

The joint patrol team were believed to have been deployed ahead of the presidential poll holding on Saturday.

The security personnel were seen at various part of the FCT, including the Kubwa Expressway and other strategic areas.

Checks indicate that more security personnel may be deployed before, during and after the elections to ensure a hitch-free exercise.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu, could not be reached for comments on the deployment of the security personnel.

Our correspondent could not confirm whether  soldiers would be deployed during the poll, which would be a violation of court orders.
