Tragedy struck in Ise-Akoko, a suburb of Akoko North East LGA of Ondo State recently after a 30-year-old man, simply identified as Babangida Oni, was hacked to death by suspected cattle rustlers.
Although, details of the death were still scanty, residents claimed that some suspected Fulani herdsmen were behind the cruel act.
The deceased was hacked to death by the assailants, who invaded his residence in the evening.
His remains had since been deposited in the morgue at the State Specialist Hospital in Ikare-Akoko, where it was learnt that postmortem would be conducted.
A source in the state police command told newsmen that, “at about 10am, Mr. Yunusa Oni, who resides at Akunnu-Akoko came to the station and reported that on that fateful day at about 7am, his nephew, one Idris Oni, called to inform him that three men came to their house in Ise-Akoko where they macheted the victim, who was his brother to death.”
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Wole Ogodo, said no suspect has been arrested, while investigation had begun on the incident.
