Ink Master winner Scott Marshall, passes away in his sleep at age 41

Scott Marshall tragically died in his sleep during the night of Oct. 24, according to a new report. The 41-year-old competed on and won Season 4 of Ink Master, and his wife was notified of the news by police on Oct. 25.

The Spike TV star called his wife, Johanna, after a day of work at his tattoo shop in Chicago on Oct. 24, but told her he didn’t feel well and would be unable to make the drive home, TMZ reports. Instead, he went to a nearby hotel to sleep it off, but wasn’t answering Johanna’s phone calls the next day, she says.

Hours later, she was notified that her husband had died in his sleep, and the preliminary autopsy reports show there was some sort of problem related to his heart. The death is currently under investigation by the coroner and local police, and no further details have been given at this time.

“He was a great competitor and talented artist,” a rep for Ink Master told the site. “Our deepest condolences go out to the Marshall family and friends.” Sadly, Scott also leaves behind three children, along with his wife.

The late reality star competed on Ink Master during the show’s fourth season, which premiered on Spike in Feb. 2014. He won a $100,000 prize and was featured in Inked magazine for pulling out the win. Our thoughts remain with his family during this difficult time.
