Personal trainer visits Lamar Odom in hospital says ‘He had a momentary lapse’

Lamar Odom's personal trainer says the NBA star must have had a 'momentary lapse' as he fights for his life after suffering heart failure induced by a four day binge at a Nevada brothel.

Fareed Samad, who had been working with the 35-year-old, said he had been going to the gym for three hours a day and was trying to get his life and career back on track.

He added that it came as a surprise to hear that the basketball player was found with liquid pouring from his mouth and nose at Dennis Hof's Love Ranch in Nevada after reportedly taking 10 herbal Viagra given the fact he was so keen to get back into shape.

This is the video obtained by TMZ.com of Lamar Odoms ride in the Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue vehicle from the Brothel named Love Ranch South

A source at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas where Odom is currently being treated for what has been described as a non-suicidal drug overdose revealed to E! News this morning that doctors found 'virtually every drug imaginable' in his system, including cocaine and opiates, and that he is believed to have suffered a stroke and ‘choked on his mucus.’

Speaking outside the hospital Mr Samad, who was asked if it was a 'momentary lapse, said: 'Of course, that's what I think. This has just come all of a sudden.

'He was doing so well and was on his way back and the next thing you know someone calls me and tells me he is unconscious.'

He added that he hadn't talked to Odom in a couple of days and never asked him about his personal life.

Asked why he thought the NBA star had gone to the brothel, Mr Samad added: 'When he wakes up we will find out.'

During his career Odom has had stints with the LA Clippers, the Miami Heat, the LA Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks.

He won the NBA Championship twice, took the gold medal in the FIBA World Championships with the United States in 2010 and was named in the NBA All-Rookie team in 2000.

After the Clippers dropped him in 2013, he tried to revive his career with Spanish club Laboral Kutxa.

However in August 2013, Odom was arrested on charges of driving under the influence.

He pleaded no contest to the charge and accepted a sentence of three years' probation and three months of alcohol abuse treatment.

He then had a brief stint with the New York Knicks in 2014 but hasn't played professional basketball since and there had been rumours his .

However, Odom appeared to be doing well of recent, having started a new Instagram account just a few weeks ago and posting old photos and videos of himself playing basketball while also showcasing his healthy eating habits by sharing meal pictures.

One of those photos showed him playing for the Los Angeles Lakers when they won the NBA Championship.

'Feels just like yesterday,' he wrote next to the picture.

After it was revealed that Odom was fighting for his life in hospital, his 'inconsolable' ex-wife Khloe Kardashian rushed to his bedside at the Sunrise Hospital in Nevada.

His former LA Lakers team mate Kobe Bryant has also been seen entering the Sunrise Hospital to visit Odom after leaving his team's game against Sacramento Kings early last night.

Reed Cowan of News 3 Las Vegas spoke with another of Odom's trainers outside the hospital who said he had been training hard and dropped 35 pounds, but that things would go wrong when Odom spoke with his ex-wife.

'The last really big thing was when [Odom] and [Kardashian] was texting each other back and forth about seeing each other, resolving things and then when he finally got there ... It was really bad. It wasn't good,' said the trainer.

Meanwhile the NBA star's former team the LA Lakers released a statement saying they had no other information and that none of their players had been in contact with Odom.
