Cut down cost of governance, political appointees - Former Aso Villa chaplain urges Buhari

To ensure that the All Progressive Congress (APC) live up to its promises, a radical ceric and former Chaplain of Aso Villa during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Reverend William Okoye, has called on General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), to cut down the cost of governance and prune down the number of political appointees in the country.

He categorically called on Buhari to revisit the Stephen Oronsaye-led Committee’s report on civil service reforms which recommended scrapping of some agencies for guidance.

He stated that, Buhari should also focus on eradicating mediocrity in governance which, he said, “is usually fueled by too much consideration on ethnicity, religion, gender and political affiliations” adding,” the new dispensation hold promote meritocracy.

Okoye who is the General Overseer of All Christians Fellowship Mission, Maitama in Abuja made this known during his Easter sermon on Sunday entitled: “God is in charge and in control – Nigerians should thank God for a peaceful election.

Making reference to Buhari’s Bio-data entitled: “15 things you didn’t know about him” published by THE PUNCH and which stated that the President-elect was a cattle rearer as a little boy, the Cleric challenged him to use his experience to “bring an end to the incessant clashes between farmers and Fulani herdsmen across the country.
