Okorocha tells Ndigbo, Embrace change


Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha has expressed happiness that the vision for a new change has come to reality with the victory of his party, All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last presidential election.

Speaking at a press conference by the party’s leadership in Owerri, Okorocha stressed that despite the stiff opposition by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the APC defeated the ruling party too ensure the emergence of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) as President-elect.

While stressing the need for the South East to embrace the wind of change to the progressives, Okorocha spoke against the alleged use of the military and other armed security agencies by the PDP to rig election in his state.

He warned those who perpetuate “such dastardly act to desist forthwith as

Imo people will resist intimidation in the forthcoming governorship and State Assembly elections.

Okorocha described the APC’s victory as most symbolic, being the first time in the history of Nigeria for an opposition party to defeat the incumbent president.

“Thank God the right man has come; and never again will Nigerians be molested by the Army and security agents during elections”, the Imo governor added.

He however noted that APC is not a party of vengeance, but has a large heart to accommodate every Nigerian and urged Ndigbo to embrace the new change in order to cue into the mainstream of the nation’s politics.

Also such speakers like the APC National Vice Chairman, Emma Enukwu; the National Organising Secretary, Osita Izunaso; the National Auditor,

George Muoghalu and Senator Chris Ngige, all pointed out that the results of the presidential election recorded for the South Eastern states were not  true reflection of the actual vote for APC.

They alleged massive rigging by the PDP and called for a review of the results to enable APC National Assembly candidates regain their victory.

On his own, former governor of the old Anambra State, Ogbonnaya Onu stressed that APC, as a political party, was borne out of the need to correct the injustices in the nation and build a nation free from discrimination and subjugation.

He therefore called on all Nigerians to close up ranks and work together to heal the country.

Contributing, the APC Deputy National Women Leader, Mrs. Tina Adike, commended the Nigerian women for their belief in the party’s manifesto and the personality of Buhari by voting for APC.

She called on the APC women to embrace every woman, adding that though they may not have supported the struggle for change, but as Nigerians are part of the celebration and the change.
