Benue State: Unknown gunmen kill PDP youth leader

Gunmen have murdered the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Leader of Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue State, Prince Ternenge Gbuuga.

Gbuuga, popularly known as Andoor, was assassinated in the early hours of Monday at his residence in Lessel, Ushongo LGA.

At the time of this report, the police were yet to react to the incident; however, Daily Independent learnt that the corpse of the youth leader has been deposited in a mortuary in the area.

Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom has declared an amnesty for persons who have flouted the law prohibiting illegal arms in the state, urging them to surrender their weapons or face arrest.

He made the declaration during his inauguration as governor on Friday, May 29, at IBB Square, Makurdi.

“We call on all unlawfully armed persons who have been terrorising innocent citizens to immediately surrender their arms, be free and get integrated into our reform programme, or we shall pursue them down to their holes,” Ortom said.
