Buhari seeks Senate approval for 15 Special Advisers

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday June 2, 2015, requested the approval of the Senate to appoint 15 Special Advisers, who will assist him to carry out his functions.

Buhari, in a letter addressed to Senate President, David Mark, said his request was in accordance with the Section 151 (1), (2), (3) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The request was Buhari’s first correspondence to the National Assembly since assuming office Friday May 29, 2015.

The appointments would be the second for Buhari, who only named his spokespersons and chief of protocol on Sunday.

Buhari has not given a hint of those he would name as advisers or ministers.

Earlier, the Senate had congratulated Buhari, the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and all the 29 governors who were sworn in on Saturday.

In his remarks, Mark urged the President and all the governors to observe the rule of law as they go about administering the country.
