Young people from Ghana and Nigeria converged at the British Council, Accra over the weekend to officially launch the GHANA-NIGERIA YOUTH STRATEGIC PLATFORM. The two countries have come a long way since pre-colonial independence hence the need to continuously do things that would unite its youths.
According to Comrade Barry Ndu Nwaihim, Public Relation Officer of All Nigerian Community, Ghana and the Coordinator of REBRAND NIGERIAN YOUTHS IN GHANA ORG. (RNIGO),the organizers of the event, the programme is intended to unite the youths by making them understand the need to dwell peacefully amongst themselves while creating ideas on how they can contribute positively to the betterment of their countries and indeed Africa. This intellectual event had its theme as ‘THE FUTURE OF AFRICA IS BRIGHT, GHANA AND NIGERIAN YOUTHS MUST BE AT THE FORE FRONT’.
He assured that in the coming months, a school tour would be embarked upon by his group to continuously sensitize the people on the need to think positively and believe in their dream to achieve greatness. He called on African leaders to be more responsive to the need of the people, saying that the natural resources that Ghana and Nigeria has if properly utilized can make these countries the destination point for even the western world.
ASP Effia Tenge,the Greater Accra Regional Public Relation Officer urged youths from the two countries not to engage in things that would cause breach of peace. She advised that wealth does not guarantee peace but a conscious effort to ensure that happens. She urged for more of that kind of event that would always bring young people together to share ideas on how they can make society better. She assured that the Police would protect everyone that’s law abiding. The President of the All Nigerian Community,Ghana, Mr Moses Owharo also asked the delegates to always create new ways of doing things, he believed that creativity would lead to success in life.
Prof E. Balamurugan from Blue Crest University,Barr. Ogochukwu Nweke ,Mr Simeon Odo and Mr Samuel Kwesi Fletcher all encouraged the delegates to the event to remain hardworking and passionate about what ever positive venture they find themselves in as success is assured when that’s done.
It was a very successful event as the panelists answered several questions from the audience. Award were presented to people who have been supportive of the group.The Organizers assured of more of this kind of intellectual events that brings Ghana and Nigerian youths together on the same platform to share ideas.
The next GHANA-NIGERIA YOUTH SUMMIT, another of their brain child will come off in Nigeria next year.
