Texas mother 'gave marijuana and beer to eight girls during daughter's sleepover'

Wells' three children, a boy and two girls, were all in the home at the time of the party in her Springfield, Texas home, according to authorities

A Texas mother has been arrested after she allegedly gave marijuana and beer to eight girls aged 12 to 14 while her daughter was having a sleepover party at their home.

Mandy Wells, 32, gave the girls two cans each of Coors Light and provided them with marijuana she packed into a pink and purple Hello Kitty pipe, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Police were notified after a mother of a 13-year-old girl who attended the sleepover saw a photo posted on Instagram of girls smoking 'what appeared to be marijuana' at the Springtown home.

Wells' three children, a boy and two girls, were all in the home at the time of the party. Authorities said she also offered her 10-year-old son marijuana but he declined, according to WFAA.

One of the girls' who attended the party told police that every minor in the house that night was drinking, according to the affidavit obtained by The Smoking Gun.

Another girl told officers that Wells had told them the marijuana helps her own daughter with depression and asked if they wanted to try it.

Two of the Springtown Middle School students told police they had gotten high on the pot Wells offered to them.

Wells told police she allows her 14-year-old daughter to self-medicate with marijuana because the medication she has been prescribed 'does not work'.

She told police that the girls did 'get high' at the party but that they did not 'require special attention' and that she kept them 'under control'.

Wells also said she thought 'for a minute' that it could be bad to give the adolescents alcohol and marijuana but 'did it anyway'.

Police found assorted drug paraphernalia while searching Wells' home, as well as beer cans in one of the children's bedrooms and dog feces on the floor.

'This place was a garbage dump,' Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler told WFAA. 'It was nasty, filthy.'

Wells would not tell investigators the name of her marijuana supplier, according to authorities.

The mother has been charged with delivery of marijuana to a child, a felony, and a misdemeanor charge of furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Wells children have been removed from her home and are in the state's child protective services decision custody.

At least two parents told police they plan to press charges against Wells.
