A father shot his two-year-old son dead before killing himself after a 19-hour stand-off with police last night.
Thy Ho, 43, fatally shot his son Phillip Nguyen hours after telling his girlfriend, who is the boy’s mother, that he would rather kill his child than have him taken away from him.
Armed police had been stationed outside Ho’s home in Buford, Georgia, since 10pm on Tuesday after a man called 911 saying Ho had threatened to shoot everyone and commit suicide.
Ho, who was on the sex offenders’ register, let everyone leave the house except for Phillip after a SWAT team arrived.
WSB-TV reported that Ho told his girlfriend, Huyen Nguyen, that he would ‘rather end his life than let you care for him without me’.
The father barricaded himself in the master bedroom and stayed there with the boy for 19 hours.
