A 31-year-old man is dead after falling from a building and landing on an oxygen tank at a Midtown hospital, forcing an evacuation of the emergency room early Friday, officials said.
The man fell from an adjacent building and landed on the tank at Mount Sinai St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital on 10th Ave. around 1:51 a.m., according to police.
Upon falling, the tank's line was ruptured, stopping a flow of oxygen to the hospital and causing an evacuation of the emergency room to the lobby. The emergency room was temporarily shut down.
The victim died at the scene and a name is not being released pending family notification.
Incoming patients are being diverted to other area hospitals and the fire department is on the scene attempting to fix the line, officials said.
