List of looted funds will be released – Lai Mohammed


Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture has disclosed that the Federal Government will release the list of looted funds to Nigerians before the end of the week.

Mohammed, who spoke during a live TV programme aired on Channels TV on Sunday, monitored by our reporter, however chipped that the list won’t disclose the names of those who the funds were recovered from, the

“Nigerians will get the amount recovered by the end of the week, but for legal reasons, we will not reveal the names,” the Minister said.

Also on the program were the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun; Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-Corruption, Itsey Sagay; and, the Director of Army Public Relations, Sani Usman.

THEWILL recalls that President Muhammadu Buhari had in his Democracy Day broadcast on Sunday promised that the Ministry of Information and Culture would publish the details of looted funds which would be updated periodically.

“Full details of the status and categories of the assets will now be published by the Ministry of Information and updated periodically,” Buhari said.

“When forfeiture formalities are completed these monies will be credited to the treasury and be openly and transparently used in funding developmental projects and the public will be informed.”
