Ke’Anna Shields Bentley, 21, was killed last week at a bus stop in the city when a driver of a truck ran through a stop sign and plowed into her.
The young woman had just married her high school sweetheart, was expecting a baby and was on her way to pick up her cap and gown for a graduation ceremony when it all happened.
She was about to graduate from nursing school.
“She was so happy to be his wife and she was so happy to be having that baby,” said Leola Bentley, grandmother to Shields’ husband. Quentis Bentley.
The couple had just married three weeks ago.
Bentley is in the Navy and was set to be returning home again to attend his wife’s baby shower.
The baby was due next month.
The driver of the truck that killed Shields has been identified as Eddie Haynie, 58.
Haynie’s truck actually hit another vehicle before careening off the road and into the young pregnant woman.
At press time, charged were pending against Haynie. He was found unconscious in his truck.
