Florida police officer arrested for having sex with teenager

A Florida police officer has been arrested after he confessed to having sex with a 15-year-old girl.

Polk County detectives arrested 27-year-old Randy Velez on one count of lewd molestation, according to WTSP-TV. The incident was initially reported by Velez’s wife, Eloisa.

After his Tuesday arrest, the Bartow Police Department officer said that he and his wife were having marital problems when he struck up a relationship with the victim.

Velez met the 15-year-old through his job and then began talking with her regularly on Facebook, WFTS-TV reported. Although he visited her frequently, the victim said that they only had sex one time.

Eloisa told investigators that her husband had been “not himself” for months and had eventually admitted cheating on her with the teenager. She recorded a phone conversation and turned it over to police.

After confessing, Velez was booked into the county jail early Wednesday morning.
